Radiology:
Radiology is by
using imaging technologies such as (X-ray radiography, MRI, CT, nuclear medicine,
ultrasound and PET) to see within the human body to detect any abnormality or
disease.
X-Ray: X rays are electromagnetic radiation that penetrates within the
body and creates images of these structures on photographic film. These images
are called diagnostic x rays.

X-RAYS:
- We should count the number of views and select the appropriate CPT code.
- No of images and/or films couldn't be considered as views.
- If the no of views not
mentioned in the record, then we have to down code the minimum view
CPT.
PROFESSIONAL AND TECHNICAL COMPONENTS
Radiology
procedures - both a technical and a professional component. As a basic
requirement of radiology coding must know whether to report a technical,
professional, or “global” service.
·
The
technical component - TC
The professional
component – 26
When reporting global
services- Modifier TC and 26 are not required.
Common Radiology Modifiers:

- 50
(Bilateral Procedure)
